How it works

How the chart works

For men's and women's tops (t-shirts, shirts, jackets and similar), this tool holds a fixed conversion table across five notations: International (XS-XL), Japan (JP), US, UK and EU (German-based numbering). Selecting a size in any one field looks up the matching row and shows the rest. This is a table lookup, not a formula-based estimate.

Source of the chart

The conversion table is sourced from a Japanese apparel e-commerce size-guide article covering international tops sizing.

Men (International: JP / US / UK / EU)

  • XS: 1(S) / 34 / 34 / 44
  • S: 2(M) / 36 / 36 / 46
  • M: 3(L) / 38 / 38 / 48
  • L: 4(LL) / 40 / 40 / 50
  • XL: 5(3L) / 42 / 42 / 52

Women (International: JP / US / UK / EU)

  • XXS: 5(XS) / 0-2 / 6 / 32
  • XS: 7(S) / 4 / 8 / 34
  • S: 9(M) / 6 / 10 / 36
  • M: 11(L) / 8 / 12 / 38
  • L: 13(LL) / 10 / 14 / 40
  • XL: 15(3L) / 12 / 16 / 42

Sizing is brand-dependent (important)

There is no single, strictly enforced global standard for clothing sizes, and it's well known that the same label (e.g. "M") can correspond to very different actual measurements from one brand to the next. UNIQLO, for example, uses its Japan-based sizing worldwide, so its "M" tends to run smaller than a typical US-based "M".

What this tool shows is a general, commonly used approximation seen across many retailers and the apparel industry. Before buying, always cross-check against the specific brand's own official measurement chart (actual garment measurements in cm, such as chest width and length).

What data is sent

All conversion happens entirely in your browser. Nothing you select is ever transmitted to a server.

FAQ

Is my selected size sent anywhere?

No. All conversion happens entirely inside your browser, and nothing is transmitted to any server or external API.

I picked US M but the fit is different between brands — why?

Clothing sizes have no single enforced global standard, and actual measurements (in cm) vary by brand. This tool's chart is a general approximation; for an accurate fit, check the specific brand's official size guide with actual garment measurements.

Does this cover kids' clothing sizes?

No. This tool covers men's and women's tops only.

Can I use this for bottoms or dresses?

This tool's chart is for tops (t-shirts, shirts, jackets and similar). Bottoms and dresses use a different sizing system based on waist and hip measurements, so they're out of scope here.

What does the women's US "0-2" mean?

The source chart shows the US equivalent of the smallest (XXS) size as a range, "0 to 2", so it's shown as-is. Some brands treat US 0 and US 2 as distinct sizes.
