Supported QR code types
URL / Text
The text you enter is encoded directly into the QR code.
WiFi
From a WiFi SSID (network name), password, and security type (WPA/WPA2, WEP, or no encryption),
this generates a QR code in the format most phone camera apps recognize
(WIFI:T:...;S:...;P:...;H:...;;). Scanning it opens the WiFi connection screen automatically.
Contact (vCard)
From a last name and/or first name (at least one is required), plus an optional phone number, email, organization, and URL, this generates a vCard 3.0 QR code, recognized by most phone contact apps. Scanning it opens an "add contact" screen. This tool doesn't support finer details like middle names or honorific prefixes.
Download formats
You can download the result as PNG (raster) or SVG (vector). For printing at a larger size, SVG won't lose quality.
About expiration and cost
The QR codes this tool generates are static — they encode exactly what you typed, directly. This tool doesn't use a shortened URL or any redirect service, so a code you generate here can't break because a server-side link expired or an account lapsed. It works indefinitely, for free.

Most phone camera apps show a prompt to join that WiFi network automatically, without anyone needing to type the SSID or password by hand.
Can I generate a contact QR code with only part of a name filled in?
Yes. As long as either the last name or first name is filled in, it will generate. Phone, email, organization, and URL are all optional and are left out of the QR code if you don't fill them in.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
PNG is fine for on-screen use or pasting into a document. For printed materials or posters where the code will be enlarged, SVG (a vector format) won't lose quality.
